I am a retired Army civilian ammunition inspector, married with two daughters, one at Harvard grad school, the other a grad of Iowa State with a degree in Architecture. I volunteer my time at both our local zoo and public library.
A friend sent me this photo of a camouflaged larva, next to a Rice Krispie, and asked for identification help. From the long 'jaws' showing at the left side, I told her that I thought it was a Green Lacewing larva.
These 3 beetles are from the central part of the old Canal Zone, near Paraiso, now Panama. I believe them to be Lamiinae/Ataxiini (Pteropliini). My guess, without having found any illustrations or photos of this attractive species would be genus Esthlogena. They are from 32-39mm long.
